BEST Plus Certification - August 17, 2012

BEST Plus is a flexible, reliable oral proficiency assessment for adult English language learners. A face-to-face oral interview, BEST Plus measures performance over the full range of proficiency levels represented in adult education programs in the areas of Listening Comprehension, Language Complexity, and Communication. The examinee’s ability to communicate in English is assessed through questions tied to authentic situations that arise in daily life in the United States.

In order to become a certified BEST Plus administrator at this all-day training, participants will practice administering the computer-based version of the test, and familiarize themselves with the scoring rubric.
Upon completion of BEST Plus test administrator training, the participants will be able to:
• Recognize the importance of assessing students’ language abilities
• Administer and score the BEST Plus oral interview using the computer-adaptive version
• Run the BEST Plus Test Administration Program
• Interpret BEST Plus scores
This training is also appropriate for those who attended this training in the past year but have had little experience in administering the test and need a review in order to remain certified.

Mellissa Woodhams, regional trainer certified by the Center for Applied Linguistics, will present this training.

There is a $35.00 charge for the Test Administrator Guide (TAG) and practice CD’s. Please make checks payable to WXXI. We must have either a Purchase Order or Check on or before the day of training.
If you already have a red TAG dated February 2005 with both CD’s, indicate that you will bring it to the training so that your fee is waived.
